The first FAST system on the island for recharging electric vehicles has been installed at the parking terminal of Cagliari Elmas Airport (Sardinia – Italy), a small column born from the collaboration between SOGAER, the airport management company and Ricarica S.r.l.

It is therefore essential to contribute to the migration towards environmentally compatible transport systems.“ – explains Cesare Fera, president of the FERA Group.“This FAST column allows tourists and Sardinians to recharge their vehicles quickly and drive without polluting the environment, since the energy supplied is guaranteed 100% renewable. “
Renato Branca, managing director of SOGAER, the company which manages Cagliari airport, commented “Cagliari Airport takes a further step towards sustainable mobility, and does so by equipping itself with an innovative service geared towards green needs. In fact for many years SOGAER has been involved in an articulated environmental project that involves the adoption of zero impact measures and tools. We have already made both the purchase of electric vehicles for service needs, and the activation of the stalls for car sharing, and now we continue with the FAST charging stations. We have also long since acquired the certification relating to the so-called “carbon accreditation”, issued by ACI Europe (Airport Council International) for the reduction of CO2 emissions from the airport system, within an overall program for the entire transport industry plane. We thus aim to distinguish ourselves on a national and European level for environmental best practices, aware, moreover, that our port of call insists on a unique and still little contaminated ecosystem, to be preserved also with our active support. In fact, we are convinced that the environment and the beauty of the territory are the first resources for economic and tourist development of our island, and in this sense, we are determined to work for sustainability in terms of investment in a future key”.
Ricarica S.r.l. was started by the FERA group in 2014, with the aim of providing charging services for electric cars. It supplies energy, obtained exclusively from renewable sources; it has installed and manages systems throughout Italy. In addition, the company has a large electric fleet, the second largest after the regions, which has been crossing Sardinia for years, serving the Group’s renewable source plants in the area.
This fast charger allows a recharge of 50 kW of power, an absolute rarity on the island. Thanks to an agreement with the airport, it will be possible to use free parking for two hours inside the airport, enough time to fill up even the largest batteries. To take advantage of the free parking, it will be sufficient, at the end of the recharge, to go to the ticket office of the multi-storey car park and show the recharge from the app. A “green” voucher will be returned which will allow you to take advantage of the free parking at the automatic pay station. As is well known, the airport offers many services in order to make the most of the recharging stop ( a supermarket, shops, restaurants, bars). Charging is activated via a mobile phone using the NEXTCHARGE APP or via access RFID. The application is the most downloaded in Italy for this service and one which provides the largest national charging network, thanks to roaming.
