Vento di Vino wind farm, in the municipality of Mazara del Vallo (TP), has been in operation since 2011 and consists of 7 REpower 3.4 MW wind turbines, for an installed total of 23.8 MW. The area in which the plant is located is 10 km from the Mediterranean coast, it is home to olive groves and extensive vineyards, while being buffeted by medium to high winds. The area is rich in traces left by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Arabs and Normans.The wind farm was designed with the aim of integrating it perfectly with the environment, landscape and terrain.Construction work involved numerous local operators, who collaborated both in the supply of material and transportation of the wind turbines.In its year of installation, Vento di Vino was the largest and most powerful wind farm in Italy.
